LVAC CrossFit: A Workout for Every Fitness Level
CrossFit is a training style combining elements of weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardiovascular exercise; the ultimate goal is to improve your overall fitness! Fitness is not a single measurement defined solely by your strength, speed, or endurance but by 10 physical skills.
- Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance – The efficiency of the body’s systems in gathering, processing, and delivering oxygen
- Stamina – The capability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and use energy
- Strength – The power of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to exert force
- Flexibility – The capacity to achieve the fullest range of motion at a given joint
- Power – The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to exert maximum force in the shortest time
- Speed – The ability to minimize the time taken for a repeated movement
- Coordination – The integration of multiple movement patterns into a single, distinct action
- Agility – The capacity to quickly transition between different movement patterns
- Balance – The control of the body’s center of gravity in relation to its base of support
- Accuracy – The precision in controlling movement within a specific direction or at a certain intensity
By focusing on developing all of these facets of fitness, we can better prepare ourselves for life’s unique challenges, improve our overall health, and have a better quality of life.
At LVAC, we’re proud to offer CrossFit classes that accommodate all fitness levels. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just beginning your fitness journey, our coaches will guide you through each workout and help you reach your fitness goals.
What is a CrossFit Workout?
Since CrossFit’s goal is to develop 10 different fitness areas, each training day can look very different. Some days may focus solely on strength; another may be a long run, and others may focus on developing skills such as handstands or pistol squats. Most days, workouts include multiple areas of development that combine different types of movement. Here are some examples of workouts that have taken place at CrossFit in LVAC.

How CrossFit Complements Other Fitness Routines
A CrossFit workout can serve as your primary method of training or supplement your current workouts. If you’re a powerlifter who hates cardio, a runner who doesn’t enjoy strength training, a yogi, or a Zumba enthusiast, adding the occasional CrossFit class into your routine can help fill in the gaps of your current routine and help you break through plateaus.
What to Expect in Your First CrossFit Class
Although your first CrossFit class can be intimidating, don’t worry! Our coaches are experienced and knowledgeable, and they’ll help you get started. Everyone has had their day one in CrossFit, and you’ll be welcomed by others who were once in your shoes.
Here’s the flow of a typical CrossFit class at LVAC:
- A warm-up to get your body ready for the workout.
- A review of the day’s workout.
- A chance to practice the movements before you start the workout.
- The workout itself!
- A cool-down to help your body recover.
Each class features a coach who actively teaches, motivates, and supports you in achieving your goals.
